Hardboard
Hardboard is a very cost effective substrate which can be die cut and covered with carpet or other trim materials. Fasteners can be added via riveting or other mechanical means. Board can be painted or coated. It can be obtained smooth on one or both sides. It can also be formed into contours.
For higher strength or load supporting requirements, higher density board is available. The sandwich construction approach shown is another means to increase load support while managing weight. Inner core can be foam or corrugated materials.

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)
MDF material provides higher load-bearing capability. It is typically processed via CNC routing. It can be painted or texture coated. MDF material is cost effective and has consistent texture and density.
Load floor example above shows CNC routed design with painted "A" surface, mechanical hardware installed ready for finish carpeting.

Wood Mat & Composites
Natural fiber and PP composite, Wood & PP composite, and Wood Mat. All may be molded.
Wood mat can be used to fabricate contoured parts and assemblies which require deeper draws and sharper corners than can be achieved by molding conventional hardboard.
Composite materials are often called "one-step" materials since parts can be simultaneously surfaced with cover stock and bonded to fasteners without additional adhesives or processes. Sometimes parts can be trimmed in the press, depending on design.
Composite materials which combine natural fibers and polymers can be used to produce interior trim panels.

Formed Panels
Valley manufactures rear trays, support panels and door bolsters from a variety of materials including hardboard, wood mat and composites.

Hardware
Fasteners, Clips, Tie-downs — Valley can choose and install a wide variety of hardware components. Depending on the material substrate they may be in-mold attached, staked, riveted or mechanically attached by other means.
Handles and Latches — Valley can complete an assembly by adding the appropriate locks, latches and handles.

Trim Carpet
There are two basic types of automotive interior carpet, tufted for floor systems and higher wear areas and needled, non-woven for trunk trim, seatbacks, package trays. We process both types.
Part above has been CNC routed, painted and covered with tufted carpet using an appearance "A" surface edge wrap underneath.

Paint, Coatings & Adhesives
Paint — We apply water-based paints to achieve an "A" surface finished appearance.
Coating — We apply a variety of coatings to improve moisture-resistant characteristics of substrate materials.
Adhesive — We apply hot melt, water-based, and pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) to adhere trim materials together and supply a complete assembly.
